Japan and China are angry with each other. The problem is about Taiwan.

Japan's leader is Sanae Takaichi. She said something important on November 7. She said Japan might help Taiwan if China attacks. This made China very angry.

China says Taiwan is part of China. Japan had a meeting with China in 1972. Japan said it understands China's idea about Taiwan.

China did many things because it is angry. China told Chinese people not to visit Japan. China told students not to study in Japan. Chinese ships went near some islands. These islands are called Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China. Both countries want these islands.

Taiwan is very close to Japan. It is only 110 kilometers away. This is why Japan cares about Taiwan.

Japanese shops are worried. Many Chinese tourists visit Japan. They buy many things. If Chinese people stop coming, Japanese shops will lose money. Some shop prices went down on Monday.

Japan wants to fix the problem. A Japanese diplomat will go to China this week. His name is Masaaki Kanai. He will talk to a Chinese diplomat. Japan wants to be friends with China again.

Both countries need each other for business. But they often have problems about history and islands.

Taiwan's president said China should be calm. He said China should act like a big, responsible country.

The problem is not finished yet. Japan and China need to talk more.
